Summer Camp Registration Opens February 2024.

PLEASE NOTE: Summer Camp this year will be hosted in conjunction with Northwestern Stables’ Summer Camp at their facility,  located at 120 Northwestern Avenue Philadelphia PA, 19118. 2024 Summer Camp will NOT be hosted at Chamounix Equestrian Center due to construction.

Open to all horse loving kids, ages 7-13 who want to learn about horses and how to ride. Daily activities include equine education, fun and a great foundation in horseback riding and care. Campers learn about safety, teamwork, responsibility, animal husbandry, barn management, and animal behavior. Hours are from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Registration form must be emailed to lessons@worktoride.net to register. We will not accept payment until we receive completed form.

Horseback Riding Camp

Ages 7 to 13 | June 17 to August 16 | $460.00 per session

There are eight, one week camp sessions. Due to limited capacity, each participant may select up to two weeks of camp. Hours are from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Little Kids Specialty Camp

Ages 5 to 7 | Unavailable in 2024

Polo Camp

Ages 8+ | August 19 – 23 | AM or PM | $200.00

Polo Camp is for youth who would like to try polo for the first time or for the experienced player who would like to learn more and (delete) improve skills. The AM session is for riders that can walk, trot and canter under control. Focus on arena strategy, field positioning, offensive and defensive strategies, penalties, conversion, and riding. 

The PM session is for beginner players that can independently tack up, walk and trot, comfortably under control. Riders learn the basics of polo, hitting, equipment, rules, and safety. Open to riders 8+.

In addition to daily riding and horse care, the camp includes arts & crafts, outdoor games and nature walks in Fairmount Park.

What should my child wear and bring to camp?2022-01-29T04:54:41+00:00

~ long pants~ closed-toe shoes, preferably with a heel, no crocs~ a change of clothes for water games~ a packed lunch~ water~ snack optional ~ we do have a wonderful fountain that dispenses tasty Philadelphia water.

Weekly enrollment is limited to 20 campers per week. Riders are grouped according to ability.

No, camp runs rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, activities will be held inside.

What does a normal day look like?2022-01-29T04:53:54+00:00

Campers arrive by 9:00 am and assemble at the picnic table for roll call. They are then divided into 4 groups. The groups rotate through stations in and around the stable area and stay with the same counselor throughout the week. Campers participate in barn chores, equine education, exploration of Fairmount Park, riding twice a day, games and arts and crafts. Lunch is from 12:00 to 1:00
